Lots of views coming from Lithuania today

Wow, could this mean that Nordvpn's employees are in Lithuania, and not Panama???

Here's a screenshot:

I don't see any views coming from Panama!  How about that!

Screen capture of Nordvpn's old web page

I did manage to get a screen capture of it.

And here's the bit with the language choices, in the gray box at the bottom:

If you can bring the site up, it still works - it still translates everything into Lithuanian.

The Fish Rots from The Head

The Head being Darius Bereika, the CEO of Cloudvpn and Tesonet.

This whole public botnet riot was started by a lawsuit filed in Texas (NOT some competitor’s blog):

I’ll start with actual facts, then progress to what is very very likely.
  • Nordvpn has a shell company in Panama. It does not run Nordvpn. Nordvpn claims they are owned and run by Tefincom S.A. in Panama. The address they give is used by OTHER shell companies, as well as their own.

  • Nordvpn claims that their HQ is in Panama, and that Tefincom S.A. actually runs the company.

  • Nordvpn accepts payments through a company called Cloudvpn, Inc.

  • The president/director of Cloudvpn, Inc. is Darius Bereika. He lives in Lithuana.

  • Nordvpn has an app on the Google Play store, called Nordvpn. It is signed by Cloudvpn.

  • There is an old version of Nordvpn’s website in the wayback machine, which can be viewed in either English, or in Lithuanian. That means Nordvpn is based in Lithuania.

  • Darius Bereika is also the CEO of Tesonet.

  • Tesonet does, and HAS, run a data mining botnet.

Whether or not Nordvpn is involved in any data mining, does not matter. This right here is very VERY SHADY. Why would you want to turn over all of your internet activity to this lot? Think about it! The only thing you have to rely on here is trustworthiness and transparency. I don’t see ANY trustworthiness or transparency going on here.

I suppose it is possible that some other Lithuanian people own Nordvpn, and they just hired Cloudvpn to handle their payments for them in the US, AND code their Android app for them. Even then, these same Lithuanian people are still trying to hide behind a shell company in Panama. What is most LIKELY is that Cloudvpn IS Nordvpn, and Darius Bereika IS the CEO of Nordvpn.

FISH → ROT → HEAD

Here are my sources:

Numbers 2 through 5 demonstrate that the address of  Tefincom S.A. is also used by other shell companies.

This document shows that Darius Bereika is the President/Director of Cloudvpn:

That is #10 from the list in the above post

This paragraph is taken from the Tesonet website:

That is #11 from the list in the above post

And finally, the old Nordvpn website that gives you the choice of English or Lithuanian, can be found in post #9 in this airvpn thread:

The author is: honeypotwarning.  I don't seem to be able to link to it directly.

A pox on all vpn's!

Nordvpn threatens reviewers on Trustpilot!

That's right, they have recently started actually threatening people who give them a bad review.

Here are the screenshots:

Wow, if they don't like a review, now they will accuse the review of being fake, and will try to get it removed.

But guess what? Nordvpn is the one that was posting fake reviews.  When I first landed on their review page on trustpilot, I got this warning:

I can't enlarge it enough, so here's the text:

Published 08-06-2018
Dear Trustpilot users,
Our customised software has discovered a large number of fake reviews on this domain and we've removed them. The manipulation of reviews is a threat to consumers and businesses and we take it very seriously.
We'll continue to safeguard the integrity of our community by fighting attempts to game the system, and we'll inform our users when we uncover deliberate attempts to cheat. Read more about how we combat fake reviews here: https://www.trustpilot.com/trust/combating-fake-reviews

It's nice to see a review site that actually puts people before corporations.  So Nordvpn was posting lots of fake reviews, and now it's threatening people who post real but negative reviews.

Also, I noticed their rating is now down to 3 out of 5, with 36% of reviews being bad to poor.

I made a note of the various issues people mentioned:

gives people the runaround on refunds.

Slow servers

Support does not know how to fix problems

frequent crashing

Automatic auto-renewals even if you cancel

Obfuscated servers don’t obfuscate

They take the money and cut customers off after a short time

 And the hypocrisy is incredible.

Does this sound like a well-run company? NO!  Stay far away from them.

Nordvpn trying to weasel out of paying me the $35 that they owe me!

So Nordvpn is trying to tell me that THIS box:

Constitutes properly informing customers that the free trial will automatically roll over into a paid subscription.  Er, NO!  What that little box tells ME is that the price is $11.95 per month, IF you decide to continue with them. There is nothing here that informs customers that they will automatically be paying for a subscription, as a result of signing up for the free trial.  Also, this IS NOT their terms of agreement. It is a box, and only a box.

Class Action Lawsuit!  I want my $35!!!!!

Nordvpn is a SCAM

I signed up for the free one week trial.  I was not informed that the trial would automatically roll over into a paid subscription - not by Paypal, and not by Norvpn.  Nordvpn claims that it is in their terms of agreement, but it is NOT.  The vpn never worked, and I decided to let the trial lapse. After the trial ended, I was charged $11.95 for a month's subscription. And then I got a lovely $35 bank overdraft charge.

Nordvpn also claims that the information is on the free trial page. Yeah, it is - in the FAQ section.  Does the FAQ section qualify as a "term of agreement"?  NO!

So on the Nordvpn free trial page, under the title:

Start your free trial now

 They have this box:

Is there anything there about the free trial rolling over into an automatic subscription? NO!

https://free.nordvpn.com/trial/

Nordvpn Terms of Service
https://nordvpn.com/terms-of-service/

Here's the section on payments:

Payments

NordVPN Services are subscribed on a service period basis. You choose the service period and the payment method yourself when you sign up for the NordVPN Services. The NordVPN app for any platform or operating system supported by NordVPN can be downloaded free of charge. Users will have to purchase a paid subscription from NordVPN to connect to the NordVPN Service, except in the case of a limited free trial or certain coupon offers.

Your service will automatically be renewed and your chosen payment method will be charged at the end of each service period, repeating the length of the previous service period, unless you decide to cancel your subscription for the NordVPN Services.

There is nothing here about the free trial rolling over into a paid subscription automatically.  It even gives the impression that the limited free trial is an exception to their requirement of purchasing a paid subscription.  I signed up for the trial, they took my payment info, and BAM! $35 bank overdraft charge. Nordvpn promotes itself all over the internet as one of the very top of the best vpn companies, but I recommend you avoid them like the plague!
